Taekwondists from some 40 countries will compete in the Dominican Republic for the 16 places in the continent for the Olympic Games, in the Pan American Taekwondo Championship, scheduled for April 9 to 11.
The president of the Dominican Taekwondo Federation, Adalberto Escoto, told the press that the last tickets for the continent on the way to Paris 2024 will be distributed at the event.
The Dominican Republic will be present with figures who have won Pan American and world medals, such as Bernardo Pié (68 kg) and Moisés Hernández (80 kg).
Cuba will be present in the championship with 4 figures, including two-time world champion and Olympic bronze medalist Rafael Alba.
Apart from the championship, the Dominican Republic is also hosting a camp in which 17 countries selected by the World Taekwondo Federation are participating.
The camp is supervised by Mónika Lee, a former world champion, while Young in Bang and Dong Wan Lee are among the international coaches who will lead the preparation of the athletes.
