Runners from eight countries, including Cuba, have confirmed their participation in the 4th Varadero International Marathon 2023, to be held on April 2.
In the data offered to JIT by the organizers, it is specified that registration applications have been received from the United States, Canada, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, China and Ethiopia.
Ethiopia will have two participants in the marathon race, which will be held for the first time in addition to the usual distances of half marathon, 10 kilometers and the popular three-kilometer race.
The event, which takes advantage of the natural beauty of the famous Matanzas beach resort, is organized by the Cuban Athletics Federation (FCA), Inder, Cubadeportes S.A. and the PinedaSport group.
By the way, for the first time the medals and trophies for the race have been made of recycled wood, a way of contributing to the care of the environment.
Another novelty for the upcoming race will be that the race bibs will be handed out at the venue, the day before the race.
Attractive activities that were part of the previous edition will be repeated, such as the Varadero Skate Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, April 1.
