Pro-Palestine protesters converge on U.S. consulate in Sydney

Pro-Palestine protesters in Sydney, Australia have demonstrated outside the U.S. consulate, demanding an end to Washington’s support for Israel.  The demonstrators expressed outrage at Donald Trump’s close alliance with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, labeling their partnership as one that enables the systematic destruction of Palestinian lives and rights.

Many protesters highlighted Trump’s vocal support for Israel’s actions in Gaza, which they described as genocide.

Carrying signs reading ‘Stop arming genocide’ and chanting for a free Palestine, they criticized the role of American foreign policy in supporting what they described as violence and oppression against Palestinians.

One protest organizer shouted: “Trump!  He will just give them the green light to go ahead and continue genocide with impunity to steal land, and he will give the green light for full out annexation of Palestine and extermination of the people on the land if they don’t find means of removing themselves.”

Protesters also focused on Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, accusing him of succumbing to US influence by supporting the AUKUS military alliance.   They argued that Albanese alignment with American imperialist policies makes Australia complicit in the global militarism that sustains Israel’s actions against Palestinians.

Demonstrators say this protest isn’t just about Trump.  It’s a broader stand against U.S.-Israeli ties and Australia’s complicity in their war crimes.
