Senior officials from the culture sphere of the Group of 77 and China are in Cuba today to participate in the first International Congress on Cultural Heritage.
The event, which will be held at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, has been dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the Cuban sculptor and ceramist Marta Arjona.
The day before, Cuban Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso discussed topics of interest with Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center, and with Anne Lemaistre, representative of that organization in Havana and head of the Office of Culture for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Tomorrow, the Meeting of Ministers of Culture of the member countries of the G77 and China, currently led by Cuba, will be held at the Havana Convention Center. The event will have as central themes of analysis culture as a global public good and the social and economic dimension of culture.
In a previous organizational meeting, Ana Margarita Morejón, director of International Relations of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, indicated that the adoption of a final declaration aimed at concrete actions to promote culture and multilateral bonds is expected from the meeting.
