The new Transportation Engineering major was created in Cuba, by Cienfuegos’s Carlos Rafael Rodríguez University, also covering students from the provinces from Havana to Camagüey in the Day Course modality.
Juan Bautista Cogollos Martínez, National Head of the Course and Innovation Methodologist at the Cienfuegos university, stated that the major arises from a need for the Ministry of Transportation to train the technical force and direct new investments.
He explained that it has a profile that adjusts to the needs of the Economic and Social Development of Cuba until 2030. It is framed in territorial plans taking into account the existing strategies for the expansion of the non-state sector, production and services, computerization of Cuban society, and the revaluation of the concept of continuous production.
It includes various strategies linked to the work objects of transportation systems and modes of action related to the development of science and technology applied to logistics, and will work on maritime, river, land, road, rail and air transportation associated with the organization of airports.
The Transportation Engineering major was approved in the country during 2021 and began at the University of Cienfuegos through Meeting Courses for Workers, with the participation of technicians from the Transportation Directorate.
