The Jamaican discus player Rojé Stona today set an Olympic record on the field of the Stade de France with a 70-meter shot to win the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris.
The record was achieved in the fourth delivery to beat the great Lithuanian favorite Mykolas Aeka, who minutes before had broken the Olympic record with 69.97, held by his father Virgilijus since the Athens 2004 edition.
For the first time a Jamaican athlete reached the top of the podium in a summer event in an athletics discipline outside the track.
The bronze medal went to Australian Matthew Denny with 69.31 meters.
