The representatives of 10 nations who attended the inaugural event of the Eurasian Academy of Cinematic Arts in Moscow have expressed their interest on the Cuban seventh art.
According to the director of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, Alexis Triana, the delegates from these countries were eager to negotiate or sign a memorandum of understanding between their institutions and the Cuban Ministry of Culture.
The Cuban delegation had a meeting with the Belarusian representatives, who requested the screening of Cuban films at the Minsk International Film Festival.
They also discussed with the Turkmenfilm Association of Turkmenistan, which is eager to provide professional film education for its young students and showcase their films in Havana.
Similarly, they met with representatives from the Ministry of Culture of Serbia, who assist in locating and recovering copies of Cuban films.
Triana emphasized that they also met with the vice president of the Chinese Film Producers Association, Zhou Jiandong, and the general director of the Turkish film company, Birol Güven, who both expressed a keen interest in the possibility of signing a co-production agreement with the ICAIC.
Furthermore, the Cuban delegation at the Eurasian Academy event met with representatives from the Kazakh Film Institute, where they assessed the Cuban proposal for co-production to finalize the documentary “Subir al Cielo”, about the journey of cosmonauts Arnaldo Tamayo and Yuri Romanenko.
The Cuban delegation also engaged in conversation with Russian filmmaker Nikita Mikhalkov, who is the founder and director of the Eurasian Academy of Cinematographic Arts.
