The Dominican Republic team qualified for the Men’s Basketball World Championship, leaving behind a team from Argentina, a World Cup giant.
The team dreamed and made their dream come true, they are already in the World Championship to be played in August and September in three countries: the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
With a 9-3 record, they came in second place in their group and thus won one of the three available tickets, along with Canada (11-1) and Venezuela (8-4).
The game was a heartbreaker played at a full house in Mar del Plata, Argentina, and few thought the Dominicans would win.
In the early hours of this Monday morning, President Luis Abinader wrote on social networks, “I take a break to congratulate the boys of our @RDBSeleccion, who just won the game that takes them to the World Cup, for the fourth time. What a great way to start celebrating the 179th anniversary of our Independence!”.
In this way the Caribbean nation advances to its fourth basketball World Cup, having already been to the Philippines 1978, Spain 2014 and China 2019 and now hopes to have an outstanding performance.
