The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel held a meeting Friday with the vice president of the Russian government, Dimitri Chernyshenko, in the context of the bilateral economic business forum, held in Havana.
At the meeting, they highlighted the new moment in relations between the two countries, reported the Presidency of the Republic on its Twitter profile.
At the closing of the XI Meeting of the Cuba-Russia Business Committee, Havana and Moscow concretized actions in a new stage of their economic-commercial ties.
According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (Mincex), Ricardo Cabrisas, the thematic tables of the businessmen’s meeting identified new projects in the areas of transportation, agriculture, agro-industry, construction and tourism, among others.
“The forum boosts not only relations between Russia and Cuba, but also between Eurasia and Latin America, as the two nations are key in interregional ties,” Cabrisas said.
He added that the two states have opportunities to strengthen collaboration in the sphere of the smokeless industry, with the implementation of the corporate and health tourism modality.
For his part, Chernyshenko announced that Russia will resume regular air service to Cuba as of July 1.
The official informed that the decision responds to a presidential order, a directive that reached the Aeroflot company.
