Cuba’s roster for the Fiba AmeriCup window announced

The Cuban Basketball Federation announced the roster that will represent Cuba in the qualifying phase for the Fiba AmeriCup 2025.

The Cuban team will travel to the Bahamas to face the national team on February 20, at the Sir Kendall Isaacs Stadium, in what will be the second leg between the two teams.

The first match was won by the Cubans at the Sports City Coliseum, with a score of 76-62.

On that occasion, Yoanki Mencia stood out, winning the award as the most valuable player of the game after scoring 17 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.

Precisely the Casademont Zaragoza power forward will be one of the mainstays of the team coached by Osmel Planas in the second leg.

Very good news is also the return of Jasiel Rivero and Karel Guzmán, two key players who were absent in the first leg.

Other star players such as Howard Saint-Roos, Reinaldo García, Pedro Bombino, and Sigfredo Casero also appear on the roster.

Also included are playmakers Marcos Chacón, Michael Espinosa, and Aldo Castel; forward Ibrahim Hechevarría; power forward Marlon Díaz and shooting guard Joan Carlos Gutiérrez.

Completing the roster are two young talents: Arle Zaporta from Sancti Spíritus and Ariel Ferrán Miró from Havana.

An away victory by the Cubans qualifies them for the Fiba AmeriCup Managua 2025, regardless of the result on the last date, scheduled for February 23 against the Puerto Ricans, as they would pass as third in the group with at least three successes.

The Cuban federation of this sport clarifies that the list of those who will travel to Puerto Rico is not confirmed because the visa process has not yet been completed.
