Cuba´s western province of Matanzas will host the 2nd National Festival of the Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists (ACAA) from March 17 to 19, to promote artisans´ work.
According to Antonio Perez, ACAA president in Matanzas, the event is the perfect setting for promoting the commercialization of Cuban handicrafts while serving as a pretext for the exchange of knowledge among artists.
To date, 21 artisans from Sancti Spiritus, Cienfuegos, Havana, Mayabeque, and Villa Clara provinces and eight artisans from Matanzas have confirmed their attendance at the Festival.
Pérez stated this event pays tribute to the 35th anniversary of ACAA and the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC) in Matanzas. Talks will be given between Matanzas creators and the rest of the country in search of swapping experiences.
Pérez said that over 70 works will be exhibited during the Festival, several of them created by remarkable Cuban artisans including Luis Octavio Hernandez, Helga Montalvan, Annia Cortezaga, among others.
