Cuban president insists on the need to produce more food

The search for alternatives to increase food production in the central province of Sancti Spiritus was the focus of an analysis this Thursday by the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, with authorities of that territory.

Cuba’s Presidency reported on its Twitter account that the head of state insisted on the need to improve the contracting system with farmers for milk collection, increase self-consumption areas in work centers and adapt structures for food production in the municipalities.

Díaz-Canel said that so far this year, more than 6,000 hectares of uncultivated land have been handed over in the province, the export and tourist arrival plans have been fulfilled, the budget deficit has been reduced, the housing plan has been fulfilled, the maternal mortality rate has been kept at zero and the number of enterprises with economic losses has been reduced, among other indicators.

For his part, the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, appreciated the unity and confidence of the people in their leaders, as well as the dedication to work of the people of El Salvador, who in his opinion work hard in the midst of very complex economic conditions.

However, the head of government considered that there are still many reserves to successfully face the challenges imposed by the complex economic situation of the country and the world.
