The chief of the Cuban Fire Department, Luis Carlos Guzmán, stated that ensuring compliance with safety and fire protection standards is today of paramount importance in the Caribbean country.
In the context of the 11th International Congress on Disasters and the 7th International Firefighters Conference, Guzmán specified that all the topics will be analyzed in depth and debated among those attending the conclave that takes place in Havana’s Convention Center.
According to Guzmán, firefighters from Cuba and other parts of the world are exchanging experiences. Addressing prevention, security systems and ways of acting will contribute to a reduction in accidents internationally.
Cuba’s firefighters will redouble their surveillance and control of compliance with security measures, and by 2024 we plan to work on everything related to new investments, which will serve to avoid unfortunate events, the official said.
The Congress on Disasters will address topics such as the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction Management, the comprehensive preparation of society to achieve a culture and effective management of disasters; the natural, technological and health origin of these; information and communications technologies and special data infrastructures.
