Cuban authorities highlight the work of MININT

The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated on Tuesday all the chiefs, officers and combatants of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the founding of that institution.

On his Twitter account, the dignitary wrote: “To you and the people of which you are part, we owe the peace, tranquility and joy with which we celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the MININT”.

For his part, the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP-Parliament), Esteban Lazo Hernández, also stressed that for more than six decades the agency has remained at the forefront, defending Cuba, the Revolution and citizen tranquility, with the strength of the people.

“Thank you for your dedication, courage and daily sacrifice,” said the also president of the Council of State.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz recognized the officers and combatants who make up its glorious ranks, which guarantee order, national security and citizen tranquility, one of the main attributes of the country.

Likewise, the Vice President of the Republic, Salvador Valdés Mesa emphasized that the self-sacrificing and self-sacrificing work of its members has made it possible to preserve internal order, confront internal subversion and ensure the tranquility of the people against the enemies of the Revolution.

The Foreign Ministry congratulated the workers of that body, recalling a phrase of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016): “The workers of the Minint have ahead of them the beautiful possibility of rendering to our people and our homeland one of the most fundamental and appreciated services”.

After the triumph of January 1, 1959 and with the growing aggressiveness of the U.S. Government, on June 6, 1961 the Minint was institutionalized, with the aim of concentrating efforts, experiences, human and material resources of different agencies, scattered until then.

Its fundamental mission lies in the preservation of the security of the State and the internal order of the country, which harmoniously links the confrontation of criminal and counterrevolutionary activities with the prevention of these phenomena.
