Cuban Anisley Garcia qualified today to the semifinals of the three-meter springboard diving event of the Olympic Games.
At the Saint-Denis Aquatic Center, La Tuti, as she is affectionately called, was included in the list of the 18 athletes who in the preliminaries qualified for the next phase, out of a total of 28.
Garcia totaled 272.40 points after the five jumps – the first being the best score (61.50) – and advanced last to the next stage.
Priscis Leydis Ruiz, the other representative of the largest of the Antilles, finished in 25th place with 239.85 points, which meant she could not place among the qualifiers.
Yiwen Chen, from China, led the event with a score of 356.40, followed by Australia’s Maddison Keeney (337.35) and Mexico’s Aranza Vazquez (321.75).
Thus, Anisley reached her second Olympic semifinal, as she had already participated in the 10-meter platform, her most important event.
