UNRWA says no aid has entered Gaza since March 2nd amid total Israeli blockade

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees has announced that no aid has entered the besieged territory since Israel enforced a total ban on aid delivery on March 2nd.

In a series of posts on its official X account, UNRWA stated that Israel’s new ban on aid entry marks the longest period of aid blockade since the regime started its aggression.

The agency stressed that the current blockade is three times longer than the initial one imposed at the start of the Israeli genocide in October 2023, and is crippling all relief efforts.

UNRWA warned that lack of food, clean water, shelter, and medical care is threatening the survival of Gaza’s nearly two million displaced people.  The agency also reported that 69 percent of Gaza is now under evacuation orders, with around 4200,000 Palestinians forcibly displaced again since Israel resumed its genocidal war last month.

Meanwhile, Khalil al-Hayya, chief negotiator of Hamas resistance movement has called for immediate pressure on Israel to end the six-week blockade that has deepened a hunger crisis and an imminent famine in the blockaded region

“The international community is required to intervene immediately and exert the necessary pressure to end the unjust blockade imposed on our people in the Gaza Strip,” al-Hayya said in a statement on Friday.

Gaza’s Civil Defense, which carries out emergency and rescue services in Gaza, has also warned that its vehicles are running out of fuel.  The fuel shortage could force the agency to halt operations “within the next few days”, it said

“We call for pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to allow the entry of sufficient quantities of fuel,” said the civil defense in a post on Telegram.

Israel has not allowed any fuel, food, or medicine into the Gaza Strip since early March.

The Government Media Office has warned Gaza is entering a “phase of complete humanitarian collapse” as Israeli forces continue to block aid into the besieged Palestinian territory.

Israeli minister of military affairs Israel Katz recently said the regime would not allow any humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, confirming that food is being used as a tool of pressure against the Hamas resistance group.  Katz said no preparations were being made to bring supplies into the strip.

“As I mentioned in my statement, Israel’s policy is clear and no humanitarian aid is about to enter Gaza,” he said, adding that aid prevention is “one of the main tools” that Israel is using to pressure Hamas, “in addition to the other steps that Israel is taking.”

The Israeli military presses on with the bombardment of Gaza, causing more casualties and destruction in the Palestinian territory.

At least 27 people have lost their lives in fresh attacks since dawn on Friday.  A woman in an area northeast of Rafah was among the victims of the latest attacks.  A number of fatalities were also recorded in northern Gaza.

The death toll from the genocidal war on the besieged territory has topped 51,000. More than 116,500 others have been injured as well.  Most of the victims are women and children.
