The second educational mission of the Russian Language Ambassadors program will be in Cuba until December 20, according to a report from the TVBrics channel.
The Alexander Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language has launched a new initiative in the form of an international volunteer program called «Ambassadors of the Russian Language in the World», aimed at promoting the Russian language, education, and scientific achievements.
The ambassadors not only introduce children who speak foreign languages to the study of regional affairs in Russia, but also help them learn about the customs and traditions of other countries, fostering a productive exchange of cultural perspectives.
Over the course of eight years, the program has engaged more than 48,000 students and young people from Russia and abroad in educational activities organized by the Russian language ambassadors.
Every year, volunteers travel to other countries on educational and cultural missions, spreading their passion for the Russian language to students across the globe.
Cuba is a crucial ally of the Pushkin Institute in matters of intercultural communication, fostering the research of young Russian scholars and preserving interest in the Russian language and culture.
Since December the first, classes have been taking place in several educational establishments in Santiago de Cuba and Havana as part of the Russian Language Ambassadors International Program.
This is the second expedition of the program in Cuba, which is being implemented with the assistance of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
The collaboration between the Pushkin Institute and Cuba has a history that spans over four decades.
In 1977, a subsidiary of the A.S. Pushkin Institute of the Russian Language was established in Havana, where Soviet and Cuban experts in Russian language and literature collaborated. It operated until the early 1990s, during which time over 350,000 Cubans received their diplomas.
In October 2016, the Russian Language Department of the Pushkin Institute was established at the University of Havana. Russian experts visit the island to teach classes to students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, as well as providing ongoing training programs for Russian teachers.
