Barbados is preparing a scholarship plan for Cuban students to learn English, in the context of the cooperation program maintained by both countries.
According to David Comissiong, representative of Bridgetown before the Joint Working Group for Cooperation, the educational project represents the will of its Government to reciprocate the help in the training of human resources received for many years in Cuban educational centers.
The official announced the initiative during a virtual meeting with representatives of the two nations to evaluate the results of the comprehensive collaboration program and explore its expansion to other areas.
On the Cuban side, the first vice minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Carlos Luis Jorge, led the meeting. Jorge ratified the decision to advance in compliance with the agreements signed between Prime Minister Mia Motley and President Miguel Díaz-Canel, on the occasion of the visit to Barbados of the Cuban president in 2022.
