The Cuban men’s volleyball team of Jorge Luis Alayo and Noslen Diaz continues to show a great level at the Olympic Games in Paris and on Tuesday achieved its second victory against one of the best teams in the world, Brazilians Andre and George.
The partials of the victory of Alvarez Cutiño’s students were 21-13 and 21-18 against the second couple in the world, favorite in the key and medalist in the main tournaments of the world circuit.
The Cubans were far superior in attack (26-19), blocking 6-2 and in service 3-1.
With spectacular blocking, Alayo once again put the public in his pocket and reaffirmed himself as one of the best and most charismatic players nowadays.
In their first outing, the Cubans overcame the strong American pairing of Partain and Benesh also in two sets (21-18, 21-18).
Now they rest firmly at the top of the group with 2-0, and victories over two of the top teams in the world, the United States and Brazil.
Their next match will be on Thursday against the Moroccans Abicha and Elgraoui, in theory the weakest pair of the group.
