Cubans in All Stars of the Pan American Volleyball Cup

Two Cubans excelled in the 17th Men’s Pan American Volleyball Cup 2024 and were included in the All-Star team of the tournament held in Santo Domingo.

The lanky 196 cm tall player from Ciego de ávila, Carlos Charles Santana, deserved the award for the most outstanding opposite player and Camagüey’s Victor R. Andreu Flores (188 cm) for his status as the second best attacking player.

The 23- and 22-year-old players, led the Island’s squad made up of young players with very good prospects for a new Olympic cycle.

Precisely Charles and Andreu closed their good performance as the most productive of their set in the match for the bronze medal, in which Puerto Rico won 3-1 (28-26, 25-17, 16-25 and 25-22).

Leading the All-Star team was Canadian captain Jesse Elser as most valuable player and best in service, and he was accompanied by Jackson Howe (second in blocking) and Max Elgert (most outstanding setter).

Completing the honors were Chile’s Dusan Bonacic (first in attack); Colombia’s Daniel Aponza (best in blocking); Dominican Enger Mieses (most distinguished libero) and Americans Mason Briggs (best receiver) and Gabriel García (top scorer).
