Leñadores beats Alazanes in baseball playoffs

Leñadores de Las Tunas gave today a four home run show to Alazanes de Granma, defeating them 11×4 and taking a 2-1 lead in one of the semifinal playoffs of the 63rd National Baseball Series.

At their home stadium Julio Antonio Mella, mentor Abeyci Pantoja’s team saw Granma take an early lead with three runs in the first inning; but they came back with six, which proved to be decisive in the course of the game.

In that chapter, the Leñadores hit five hits, including consecutive home runs by their sluggers Rafael Viñales -with bases loaded- and Denis Peña, a score that was unreachable for the Alazanes.

For the Leñadores, the Baldoquín brothers, Roberto and Jean Lucas, also hit the ball out of the park.

Fifth victory for right-hander Yander Zamora, despite admitting seven hits and four earned runs in 5.0 innings.

This Wednesday both teams will play the fourth game, when Industriales will face Pinar del Río in the sixth game of the semifinal duel at Pinar del Río’s Capitán San Luis Park. The Vegueros are ahead 3-2.
