Sports scientists study Cuban delegation to Paris-2024

The Cuban Sports Research Center is carrying out a thorough work with the island’s athletes qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11.

The research center is still very active with its sights set on this multiple event and is currently working on in-depth analyses of the strategic weaknesses and strengths of each sport in the country, its director Pavel Pino explained to Radio Rebelde.

In that sense, the collective works especially with athletes who can contribute medals to the Antillean delegation in Paris. Among them are the five qualified boxers, who are undergoing a research project on sports intelligence, to evaluate not only the performance of each one of them, but also the possible opponents they will have in that fair, he said.

Also, in this direction they are working with other combat sports that can reap good results, with special emphasis on wrestling, discipline that is headed by the four-time Olympic champion Mijain Lopez and Judo, he added.

Referring to athletics, Pino said that this is one of the disciplines that in its showcases has several titles in appointments under the five rings, and that for this edition should be represented by about 17 athletes, sport that is made a group of interventions in the main figures, especially in jumpers, filing possible deficiencies that have to do with biomechanics studies, which have been carried out to improve their techniques.

Three Antillean canoeists who are doing well in their preparation will compete in Paris, and it is expected that they can surprise, said the Director of the Cuban Sports Research Center.

In general, the director considers that the preparation of Cuban athletes for France is going well and hopes that they can meet the forecast of being among the top 20 countries in the standings of this important event.

In that sense, he asks the followers of the muscle activity in the country to trust in their representatives, since they will give their best in each competition, always with the aim of trying to give this summer, the result that the people deserve.

So far, the island has 53 qualified athletes who will attend the event in the French city. Three years ago in Tokyo, Japan, the island attended with 69 athletes and placed 14th with seven gold, three silver and five bronze medals.
