Brazil beats the Netherlands and climbs up the Nations League in men’s volleyball

Brazil defeated the Netherlands 3-1 in the start of the third week of the men’s volleyball Nations League and climbed positions in the overall standings of the tournament.

The South Americans defeated the Europeans 24-26, 25-23, 31-29 and 25-20, with Darlan Ferreira playing a leading role in the offense.

The 21-year-old player from the Auriverde scored 26 points in total, 20 of them in attacks, three in blocks and the same amount in direct serves.

Lucas Saatkamp, with 12 points, and Flavio Resende, with 11, were his main supporters in the evening, staged at the SM Mall Asia Arena in Manila.

With this success, Brazil fixed its win-loss record at 6-3 and practically assured its qualification to the final round of the championship, scheduled for June 27-30, to which the top eight teams in the standings will be admitted.

Italy and Slovenia, at 7-1, dominate the tournament, followed by Poland (6-2), host of the final, France (6-2), Japan (6-2), Brazil (6-3), Canada (4-4) and Cuba (4-4).

On Tuesday, also in the Philippines, Canada will face Japan, while in Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia, the locals will play against Argentina and Bulgaria against Türkiye.
