Yemen says capable of sinking enemy ships across Red, Arabian, Mediterranean Seas

Yemen, which has been targeting Israel-linked ships in support of war-hit Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, says it is capable of “sinking” enemy ships at any point across the Red, Arabian, and Mediterranean Seas.

“By the power of God, we are able to sink ships and battleships [from any point on the Yemeni mainland to any point in the Red, Arabian, and Mediterranean Seas],” Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Ezzi wrote in a post on X over the weekend.   “But we leave that for another time,” he, however, added, noting, “We are still keen on peace with the least amount of escalation possible.”

Yemen’s Armed Forces and the country’s Ansarullah popular resistance movement have been staging many strikes against Israeli vessels or those bound for the occupied Palestinian territories’ ports.  The operations have been described as a response to an October 7, 2023-present war and siege that the Israeli regime has been waging against Gaza following an operation carried out by the Palestinian territory’s resistance movements.

Nearly 26,300 Palestinians, some 70 percent of whom are women, children, and adolescents, have been killed in the brutal onslaught so far.

The Yemeni forces have vowed to keep up their operations as long as the Israeli regime presses on with the military campaign.  Several of the Yemeni strikes have targeted American and British vessels.

Most recently, the Armed Forces announced striking a British oil tanker heading towards the occupied territories.  The United States and the UK have also conducted several missile attacks against Yemeni targets in response to the Yemeni operations.

Concluding his remarks, Ezzi said: “Sana’a will certainly encourage the required adjustments in American behavior towards our country and Palestine.”

The U.S. has been providing the Israeli war with unreserved military and political support, arming the regime with more than 10,000 tons of military hardware and vetoing all United Nations Security Council resolutions that have called for cessation of the Israeli aggression.
