Erislandy Alvarez reedited his coronation of a year ago and led the quartet of Cubans imposed in the boxing tournament held in the Kazakh city of Karaganda.
The world runner-up won the 63.5 kg belt with a victory over the host Mukammedali Sydyk, in a perfect final for his armada, which also celebrated the reigns of Giorgis Salfrán (51 kg), Jairo Munive (67 kg) and Jorge Soto (80 kg).
They also left home opponents Ryskhan Talip, Ryskhan Talip and Bakbergen Aliaskarov with their wishes, respectively, to seal a balance superior to the three championships signed by the Island in the previous version.
Now there were eight participants, with Rafael Joubert (60 kg), Nelson Williams (86 kg) and Freddy Perez (92 kg) defeated in the semifinals, and Adonis Bell (+92 kg) in the previous phase.
The Cuban boxers’ farewell to the current season will come this Sunday, when five of their stars, led by two-time Olympic champions Julio Cesar La Cruz and Arlen Lopez, take part in a duel against Russia.
The confrontation is scheduled for the city of Samara and will also involve the runner-up Saidel Horta, the bronze medalist at that level Alejandro Claro and the also promising Jorge Cuellar.
