The 7th Plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) agreed today not to hold the second national conference of that political organization, scheduled for the first quarter of 2024, in order to focus efforts on the fulfillment of urgent tasks.
The participants in the meeting highlighted the relevance of the militancy to turn to the realization of actions in the economic, social and ideological order, in view of the complex battle that the country is waging, reported national television.
The meeting also analyzed the prevailing obstacles for the socialist state enterprise to play its role as the main actor of the island’s economy, as well as the difficulties in the attention and control of non-state actors.
The discussions also focused on the analysis of the fulfillment of the 93 measures approved to recover the sugar industry, where the actions designed have not yet managed to transform the negative results in production, with a significant decrease in plantations and low agricultural yields.
This plenary meeting of the PCC will analyze today and tomorrow other priority political, economic and social issues of the country.
The meeting was preceded by a broad consultation process of the documents under study, aimed at facing the country’s complex economic situation.
The forum reviews the political-ideological work in compliance with the ideas, concepts and guidelines emanating from the eighth congress of the PCC, held in April 2021.
The delegates will also evaluate the actions and protocols established in terms of attention to gender violence, as this is a social problem.
As it has happened in previous plenary sessions, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the PCC will give an account of its work since the last event of this kind.
