Cuban president talks with Emirati businessmen

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel held a meeting on Thursday with businessmen from the United Arab Emirates (USA) on the various business opportunities on the island, in order to develop joint projects.

The president detailed in his account in X that they analyzed issues of common interest sectors and to boost economic, commercial, financial and cooperation links between the two nations.

A new stage is being opened in mutual relations, said the head of state today during the dialogue with businessmen linked to food production, tourism, renewable energy sources and the pharmaceutical sector.

The meeting was followed by the reinauguration of the Habano House in Dubai, the largest in the Middle East, said the Presidency of the Republic on the same social network.

The president of Baquer Mohebi Enterprises and Habanos distributor in the U.S., Mohammed Mohebi, explained that his country is the largest market for Cuban cigars in this part of the world.

The important Emirati businessman outlined the history and roots of Havana cigars in that nation.

He also spoke of Cuba’s mystique, its Revolution and particularly thanked the island for the help it extended during the hard times of the Covid-19 pandemic, when it sent its doctors here.

Díaz-Canel arrived on an official visit to the United States last Tuesday to attend the COP28 Climate Change Conference, as part of a tour that will also take him to Qatar and Iran.

The day before, the head of state held official talks with His Highness Sheikh Mohamad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE and emir of Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, both parties noted the good state of relations between the two countries and the will to continue strengthening bilateral political dialogue.
