During the previous day, he delivered more than 2,100 hydration units to the medical offices that attend to migrants at the Temporary Attention Centers for Migrants in Paso Canoas, in the southern border town, where these people congregate.
Costa Rica has become the main transit route for those crossing the dangerous Darien jungle, whose destination is the United States. According to official figures, some 3,000 migrants arrive daily at Panama’s southern border with this Central American nation.
In fact, in view of the situation, foreign ministers and security authorities of Panama and Costa Rica are meeting this day in the city of David, capital of the province of Chiriqui, on the common border to articulate strategies in favor of security, the administration of migratory and regulatory flows, among other issues of interest.
