Syrian Foreign Minister reiterates support for Cuba and condemns Washington’s blockade of the island

The Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal Al-Mekdad, expressed his country’s support for Cuba and its repudiation of the United States economic, commercial and financial blockade on Cuba.

This position of the head of Syrian diplomacy was expressed in a message sent to his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, on the occasion of the fifty-eighth anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between the two countries.

In his letter, Al-Mekdad also stressed that since the establishment of these relations, the two friendly countries and peoples maintain solid and fruitful ties. He reiterated Damascus’ desire to continue working tirelessly with a view to strengthening bilateral relations in all fields.

Deep friendship, unconditional solidarity and invariable common positions marked almost six decades of relations between Syria and Cuba, which began on August 11, 1965.
