Cuba reiterates solidarity with the cause of the Palestinian people

Cuba reiterated this Friday its solidarity with the Palestinian cause, during the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Nakba -catastrophe- of that people after the usurpation of their territory by Israel.

The Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), where more than 100 Palestinians study, was the scene of the political-cultural act to remember that difficult moment in the land of Yasser Arafat when thousands of families abandoned their homes due to the horrors of the Zionist regime.

Representatives of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Government, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, the Foreign Ministry, mass organizations and the Palestinian embassy in Havana were present at the act that showed the resistance and resilience of that people.

Fernando González, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, denounced that there are currently more than 6.4 million refugees from that nation scattered throughout the world.

González also recalled that Cuba has historically defended the Palestinian cause and the inalienable rights of its people, violated by more than seven decades of occupation. Likewise, the island has expressed its unrestricted support for a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on the creation of two states.
