Meeting of the Cuba-Russia Business Committee begins in the context of the Intergovernmental Commission

The Business Economic Forum and the Meeting of the Cuba-Russia Business Committee will take place on Wednesday and Friday in Havana, in the context of the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Commission for the Economic-commercial and Scientific-technical collaboration between the two states.

During the conference, a rapprochement and exchange of business communities in spheres of common interest such as transportation logistics, agro-industrial cooperation, innovation, digital transformation, construction and tourism, will take place.

The 20th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for economic-commercial and scientific-technical collaboration between Cuba and Russia will be held on Thursday with the purpose of strengthening ties in these spheres in line with the excellent political relations that exist at the highest level.

The respective delegations will be headed by Ricardo Cabrisas, Cuban Deputy Prime Minister and Head of Foreign Trade and Investment, and Dmitry Chernyshenko, Vice President of the Government of the Russian Federation.

In their capacity as co-chairs of the Commission, both officials will participate in the meeting that will take place in the morning. In the afternoon the final Act and other documents will be signed.

During the 10th Business Economic Forum in Moscow, in September 2019, the first Cuba Exhibition in Russia was presented, with the participation of companies from the island with more export potential.

On that occasion, the Cuban Vice Minister of Health, Marcia Cobas, said that an agreement was signed with a cluster (conglomerate) of 150 Russian companies, specifically from Saint Petersburg, with products in 98 countries. This arrangement was related to the scientific field, endocrinology, urology, diabetic foot and gynecology.

The commercial ties of both countries also received a notable boost with the visit to Havana, last January, of the top leader of the Cuba-Russia Business Council, Boris Titov, who met with the Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
