Cuban government checks measures to face the economic situation

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and his government team are checking the actions being implemented in the provinces to address the country’s economic situation.

The day before, the president met with political and government authorities and businessmen from the territories of Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba, and Granma, where he insisted on the need to determine local potentialities and facilitate the implementation of programs to take advantage of them.

A dozen meetings of this type have been held with the participation of Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, the Secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, and members of the Council of Ministers.

During the meetings, positive experiences were learned about the application of science and innovation in production and the linkage between economic actors of different models of property management, as well as between companies and universities.

The Cuban leader insisted on implementing alternatives to break the limitations imposed by the U.S. blockade intensified by more than 200 measures during Donald Trump’s administration and aggravated by the global economic crisis.

Food production, energy saving, attention to vulnerable people, and an increase in exports are among the priorities to give continuity to measures implemented by the government and the parliament to boost the economy and legally develop the rights endorsed in the 2019 Constitution.
