Russian security forces have prevented a sabotage at power system facilities in Kerch in Crimea, the FSB Public Relations Center reported today.
“The preparation of the attack on the installation of the energy system of the peninsula was prevented. As a result of the measures taken, a citizen with Russian and Ukrainian nationality, involved in the preparation of this crime, was arrested,” the agency commented.
During searches at the suspect’s address, an improvised explosive device and means of communication were seized for the coordination of the crime with a representative of the Ukrainian special services.
Judicial authorities prosecute the detainee under articles of preparation for sabotage 281 of the Penal Code, and illegal possession of explosives, 222 of the Penal Code. Under Russian law, the detainee may face imprisonment for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
