The Labiofam Business Group announced Thursday that by mid-2023 it will start up a modern industry that will produce biopesticides and bioproducts for agriculture and vector control in Cuba and for export.
“Currently, the factory is fully up and running, while in the second half of this year we will begin to achieve production and in 2024 we hope to enter the foreign market”, Teobaldo Cruz, director of the industrial complex located in this capital, said in a meeting with the press.
With an area of 46,522 square meters, the industrial complex is made up of a block for the production of bioproducts and another for engineering services, a vivarium, as well as two plants: chemical synthesis and waste treatment.
Cruz explained that from the point of view of the installed technology, the submerged fermentation plant has a capacity of five million 800 thousand liters of fermented broth per year and three million 800 thousand of concentrate; while the biphasic fermentation will be able to produce 1,800 tons.
He mentioned that other strengths of this entity are: the manufacture of its own containers, compliance in the designs with good production and laboratory practices in all procedures, production flows outlined in accordance with current international regulations for the biotech industry.
