Communist Party of Cuba rejects arrest warrant against President Putin

The Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) rejected the arrest warrant issued against Russian President Vladimir Putin by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on March 17.

The head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the PCC, Emilio Lozada, pointed out on his Twitter account that it is a decision of double standards and politically motivated, hence a flagrant violation of the principles of International Law.

The ICC issued arrest warrants against Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova, the Russian head of state’s commissioner for the Rights of the Child. That body alleges that both senior officials could be involved in the “illegal deportation” of Ukrainian children.

Commenting on this decision, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that ICC decisions have no meaning for Russia and their possible arrest warrants are legally void.
