2026 Shooting Para Sport World Cup venue defined

The South Korean city of Changwon will host the 2026 World Para Shooting Championships, scheduled for September 3-14, 2026.

Nearly 300 athletes from more than 50 countries are expected to attend the event, which will award direct qualifiers for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

According to the International Paralympic Committee on its official website, this will be the tenth edition of the world championship of this para-sport and for the fourth time para-trap events will be included. In Changwon, pistol, rifle and shotgun will compete.

Pistol and riflemen will compete in the SH1 pistol class, for competitors with disabilities in the upper or lower limbs; SH1 rifle, for athletes with disabilities in the lower limbs; and SH2 of this same weapon, but intended for shooters with limitations in the upper limbs who require a support to hold the weapon.

Among the shotgun shooters, classes SG-S (lower limb disability who shoot from a wheelchair), SG-L (leg disability who compete standing up) and SG-U (disability in the arm opposite to the shooting arm) were called.

The world championship will be held at the Changwon International Shooting Range, a venue that has hosted international shooting events in the past.

The last edition of the World Para Shooting Championship was held in Lima, Peru, in 2023. On that occasion, France topped the medal table with six titles and 21 of the 54 participating countries won medals.

Cuba participated with the smallest delegation of those present in the competition, with only three members.

There, our main figure, the multi Pan American champion Yenigladys Suarez, from Matanzas, finished 24th in the P3 25-meter pistol category and failed to advance to the final.
